Texas A&M University–Central Texas is a public university in Killeen, Texas - Ft.Hood,TX. It is one of the newest members of The Texas A&M University System. Founded in 1999 as a branch of Tarleton State University, it became an independent branch of the Texas A&M University System in September 2009. With an average age of 32 and 23% of the students being military, most students attend part-time. TAMUCT has a main campus, north campus, and a site location on military post at Ft.Hood. There is also a new campus expansion in development located off Hwy 195 near Gray Army Airfield, also known as Killeen-Ft.Hood Regional airport.[1] 672 acres (2.72 km2) were donated to the university by the United States Army on Fort Hood.[2][3]

Construction of the first building on the new campus site began August 26, 2010 and completion is scheduled for spring of 2012. The $40 million, 103,000-square-foot building will have classroom space, a lecture hall, student services, enrollment services, administrative offices, support services, and a campus bookstore. Overall future campus development will include, 19 Academic Buildings 1,600,000 SF, 4 General Use Buildings 325,000 SF, Student Union Recreation/Wellness Center Conference Center, Dining Hall, 1,800 Beds of Student Housing in 5 Phases, Athletic and Recreation Facilities, Football Stadium for 30,000, Baseball Field for 10,000, Indoor Arena for 8,000, 22 Acres of Outdoor Recreation (soccer, track, tennis, softball, etc), and Parking for 6,000 cars. The university has been dubbed the second-largest economic development to occur in the region only behind the establishment of Fort Hood. Texas A&M University Central Texas [4] Students at the university are known as the Warriors, and the school colors are navy blue, maroon, and silver.[5]
